The borescope is one of the most important and versatile tools for inspecting GA aircraft, and is the gold standard for assessing cylinder condition in reciprocating aircraft engines. However, aircraft and engine manufacturers have provided no guidance on how to perform a proper cylinder borescope inspection, and A&P training doesn't cover it.
