Inside the Crankcase

Wednesday, September 5, 2018 from 8:00 PM - 9:30 PM CDT

Presenter: Mike Busch

The crankcase of your piston aircraft engine contains the crankshaft, camshaft, connecting rods, bearings, gears, and other components that are collectively referred to as the "bottom end" of the engine. It's bad news if something goes wrong with any of these bottom-end components, because it's usually necessary to remove the engine from the aircraft and "split the case" to gain access, and that can get expensive. Mike Busch takes you for a guided tour of what's inside the case. Qualifies for FAA Wings and AMT credit.
